Spring Wings Bird Festival

May 8-10, 2020

Spring Wings Bird Festival (SWBF) is for anyone interested in birds, nature and the great outdoors. You don’t have to be an expert “birder” to enjoy all the activities we have to offer.  The Festival is the celebration of songbirds, shorebirds, and waterfowl returning to the Lahontan Valley from all over the western world and we highlight our special Nevada habitat.

SWBF coincides with World Migratory Bird Day and the height of spring migration in the Lahontan Valley wetlands. These internationally recognized wetlands are temporary home to over 260 species of birds, including thousands of White-faced ibis, Long-billed dowitcher, American white pelicans, Black-necked stilts, American avocets, and many other waterfowl and waterbirds.

During the event, most of the displays and daytime activities at the William N. Pennington Life Center are FREE. You are welcome to browse and take part in those activities at your leisure. Guided tours and evening events have associated fees and pre-registration is encouraged due to limited space.  You'll need to register as early as possible in order to insure your spot on your favorite tour or at the dinner table!

On Friday, Spring Wings will provide outreach and Environmental Education to one of our local schools.

Want to get even more involved? We are always anxious to hear from prospective volunteers and sponsors, and we also provide booth space for nature-related artists and vendors.  if you are interested, please contact us early to guarantee your spot – last day to insure booth space is April 30.  Sponsors - not sure how to help out? Participate in our ‘Sponsor-a-Van’ program. Contact us for additional information.

Watch this website for notice of detailed schedule and availability of registration. If you would like to be notified when registration is open, please email us your name and email address and we will notify you as soon as it becomes available.
